2023 Good Samaritan Fund Progress

Please find below the Good Samaritan Fund project reports, letters of thanks from agencies we have supported, and our current year-to-date giving reports.

Approved Grants

1. Rainbow Missions sponsorship program for students affected by A) Autism; B) Blindness; or C) Cerebral palsy.

Grant Amount: $12,500 for special education and boarding school.  This year’s grant amount is being increased by $2,500 to account for increases in cost of living, food, and transportation costs. The families of these students experienced many hardships due to city closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

2. International Christian Response (ICR) refugee relief in the Middle East, including camps in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Afghanistan.

Grant Amount: $10,000 total to be distributed in 2023, $5,000 in January and $5,000 in July.  

3. Clothing drive for homeless in Central Asia.

Through ECC-sponsored missionary Patty Chen, this grant supports an annual Winter Clothing Drive to care for the homeless in her locale in Central Asia.

4. Reach Ministry's "Meals of Hope" homeless feeding project.

Grant amount: $5,000.  This grant will fund groceries and kitchen supplies that will provide 2,500 meals to the homeless/unhoused/low-income people in downtown Seattle or other downtown areas like Tacoma or Everett.  

5. World Vision (https://donate.worldvision.org/give/turkey-and-syria-emergency-response)

A grant of $10,000 for help with distributing fuel and heat to medical centers and shelters; and also providing impacted families with food, clean water, sanitation, hygiene resources, healthcare, shelter kits, tents, mattresses, blankets, and safe recovery spaces for vulnerable children.

6. Frontiers’ Crisis Fund for Türkiye & Syria (https://frontiersusa.org/earthquake)

A grant of $10,000 supporting Frontiers’ partner agencies who know the best and fastest ways to respond to this crisis in providing humanitarian relief including food and supplies, and medical care for refugees and displaced people.

7 American Red Cross Maui Wildfire Disaster Relief
  • This grant provides $10,000 in support of the American Red Cross disaster relief efforts following the horrific wildfire that devastated the historic town of Lahaina on Maui.  Grant funds will help provide care, emergency shelter, food, and relief supplies. For up-to-date news on Red Cross efforts for this work, please check their website. 
8 Kin On Community Center Backup Generator Project
  • This grant provides $12,000 for the replacement of a much-needed backup power generator to provide a more reliable power supply during outages for Kin On’s Assisted Living Facility. Having a reliable generator helps maintain a comfortable living environment and ensure essential services are readily available to those in need during emergencies.
