Ryan grew up in Southern California and accepted Christ in 5th grade. His mother and father both were significantly involved in their local church and modeled a commitment to community and service that has made church life one of Ryan’s greatest joys.

Ryan attended Pennsylvania State University where he earned his B.A. in English and his M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, graduating in 1997. He has taught English in high school since then and is currently the instructor for senior English at The Bear Creek School in Redmond. Alongside his teaching, Ryan has served part-time in several churches over the last 30 years with responsibilities in music, Sunday school teaching, and youth and college ministry.

Ryan’s hobbies include leading worship with his wife, Yumi; staying fit with his son, Zach; and cooking food for anyone willing to come over for dinner.
