Christ-Centered Summer
Pastor Solomon Liu
This past year, our family had not one, not two, but three graduations! One graduated from college, one from high school, and another one from 5th grade, where she will transition into adult worship service on Sundays. Although all of them will still be in town and stay close to us, it’s a powerful reminder for Julie and me that time flies and children grow up rather quickly. We wish there were more opportunities for board games, flower planting, bike rides, family worship, bedtime Bible reading, heart-to-heart talks about life and faith, etc.
It is a good thing that summer is here and we get some more time together. Every year, we encourage our girls to set goals to achieve so that they will make the most of the free time they have on their summer break. Some of the goals they set include having a smooth transition from college to young adult fellowship, volunteering at homeless shelters, regularly doing their Bible reading, spiritual journaling, and learning worship songs on the guitar. Our prayer is that we would not waste the precious time that God has given to us, but seize the opportunities available to us to create more memories, especially ones where we could instill our faith in them. God’s word promises us,
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Prov.22:6)
We invite all the beloved uncles and aunties and big brothers and sisters in our community to pray with us, for our children and all the young people, that they would have a fruitful and memorable summer, where they could put Christ in the center and grow closer to Him.
